Lahore – March 12, 2018 – GFIF, Pakistan’s leading conference will kick off its annual event on March 13 in Lahore. Taking place March 13 - 14, GFIF 2018 organized by Center of Islamic Finance COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Lahore will bring together the top Islamic finance professionals, academicians and researchers to discuss building sustainable future and formulate best strategies for tackling current and future issues. Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana is the Chief Guest of GFIF 2018. He emphasized that there is need to promote Islamic financial System in the country to as an alternative financial system to support economic growth in the country.
The motive to hold this event is to deliberate the spectacular political and socio-economic developments, and their likely impacts on the performance and future position of Islamic financial institutions, the regulatory set-ups, and popularity of Islamic financial products being offered to the public and private sector.
Theme of GFIF 2018 is “Islamic Finance – Building Sustainable Future” and it comprises of conference sessions, panel discussions and workshops. It welcomes diversified participants from academia, financial institutions, corporate sector, industries that are potential clients and government to share their experiences, learning and research in Islamic Finance. This year it is a bigger event in number of sessions and speakers. It will benefit the audience through 10 parallel sessions in which around 40 notable national and international speakers will contribute their work on the latest advances in the field of Islamic finance, three workshops and 3 panel discussions. It includes a notable lineup of keynotes, including: Prof Dr. Kabir Hassan, IDB Laureate in Islamic finance and professor of Islamic finance at University of New Orleans, Dr. Tamsir Cham from Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), IDB, Prof. Dr. Akram Laldin Executive Director ISRA Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Dzuljastri Abdul Razak from Islamic International University, Malaysia, Mr. Umer Suleman, Islamic Finance Council UK ,Farrukh Raza, CEO, IFAAS UK, Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq CEO Amanah IIFE Germany, Mufti Ehsan Waquar ,Head Shariah Board NBP Aitemaad. There will also be a Policy Roundtable Meeting at GFIF 2017 in which stakeholders from State Bank of Pakistan, Heads of Islamic Banks, members of CEIFs and Shariah Advisors will participate to device policies for future growth of Islamic finance industry.
The conference will cover topics relevant to Islamic Financial Instruments development, the sources of uses of funds in Islamic banks, Murabaha or Ijarah: The best financing, Mudaraba or Musharaka : The best equity financing, Islamic perspective of crypto currency, customer relationship between the conventional and Islamic banks, risk management in Islamic banks ,Islamic Microfinance , Achieving UN Sustainable Goals etc .
2nd Islamic Finance Excellence Awards will also be held at GFIF 2018 to honor the best achievers in Islamic finance industry.
